A New York Times article portrays surprise that India can actually do space. The thing is, the article’s example is only a tiny part of India’s space industry.
Great read John! I totally agree with the space zombie point - if and when this number is replaced by a more realistic one, I wonder how much lower it will be (possibly closer to the 300-400B figure some are currently projecting?)
Maybe, eventually $300-400 billion? That range is about the estimated value of the Global Space Economy currently. The US Bureau of Economic Analysis (https://apps.bea.gov/scb/issues/2023/06-june/0623-space-economy.htm) noted the estimated gross output for the U.S. alone in 2021 was $211.6, so, even the U.S. is slowly getting to that range.
